Significance of Vasant/Basat Panchami

The important goddess Saraswati is said to be the goddess of learning. Saraswati is worshiped on this day, since ancient times it is considered to be the birthday of Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and art.

Vasant Panchami festival is a festival dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, language, music, and all arts. At this festival, women wear yellow clothes and make yellow dishes.

In India, the entire year is divided into six seasons, of which spring is everyone’s favorite season. This month, the field is filled with yellow flowers of mustard.

Vasant Panchami is also considered to be a symbol of preparation for the festival of Holi, which comes after 40 days. Vishnu and Kamadeva are also worshiped in Vasant Panchami.

In the scriptures, Basant Panchami is mentioned from Rishi Panchami. Vasant Panchami is mentioned in different ways in Puranas and scriptures and also in many poems.

On this day, people make yellow dishes in their homes, some make yellow rice and some saffron.

Since then, the voice of all beings has been received. Thus Goddess Saraswati was born.

Is Vasant Panchami 2023 auspicious for marriage?

According to Indian Vedic astrology, Vasant Panchami is also considered the most auspicious day for a wedding.

On the day of Basant Panchami, most of the material for worshiping Mother Saraswati is white in color.

Therefore, use a white or yellow cloth, sandalwood, yogurt and butter, akshat, white sesame, shriphal in Saraswati Pujan.

Basant Panchami Puja Vidhi

On this day, wake up in the morning and take a bath. After this, worship by wearing clean clothes. During the puja, offer yellow clothes on the statue or idol of Mother Saraswati.

Now offer roli, sandalwood, turmeric, saffron, sandalwood, yellow or white colored flowers, yellow sweets and akshat. You can also offer musical instruments and books at the place of worship.

Recite Saraswati Vandana, Aarti, and Chalisa. If students want, they can also keep a fast for Mother Saraswati on this day.
