What is the meaning of Purnima?

Purnima (Sanskrit: पूर्णिमा) is a sanskrit word which is known as Full Moon in English. It refers to the day(Tithi) when the Full Moon is 1st present. It occurs every month of the year. There are 13 Purnima in 2023.

It marks the division in each month between the two lunar fortnights (paksha),

The first one is known as Shukla Paksha (the bright two weeks before Purnima) and the secod one is known as Krishna Paksha (the dark two-week period after it)

The Moon is aligned exactly in a straight line, called a syzygy, with the Sun and Earth. Purnima (Full moon) is considered the third of the four primary phases of the Moon; the other three phases are new moon, first quarter moon, and third quarter moon. The full moon shows 100% illumination, causes high tides, and can concur with lunar eclipses.
